If you’ve got plans to go budget-travelling, here are some cheap places to stay in Rio de Janeiro:
Botafogo is a spectacular area to stay in Rio de Janeiro. It is close to the well-known and super sexy Copacabana beach and offers a fabulous view of the mighty Christ the Redeemer statue and the soaring Sugarloaf Mountain. It is also easy to get to a number of other tourist attractions, like the Favela Santa Marta, museums and cultural centres. With the reasonable and lower prices than other parts of the city, Botafogo provides budget hostels and affordable hotel options to have a good night’s sleep.
Santa Teresa, located in the hills, offers a peaceful and calm atmosphere – it can be a pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of the frenetic city! It’s also really colourful! This area has some amazing traditional houses, museums and restaurants, all of which are ideal for those looking for a spot of blissful relaxation. Whilst it is a great place to stay there can be a downside when it comes to transportation. Not many taxis will go up to Santa Teresa. If you stay in a hotel or hostel and they offer transport and rides, as some do, then take full advantage of this!
